Medical Tour in Talizi
In order to take medical tour, patient needs to send several photographs of bald and nape regions taken from different outlooks and send them to the clinic e-mail. According to photos, our doctors will provide recommendations of what can be done in order to solve problems patient faces. After deciding to undergo hair transplantation process in Talizi, surgery method, surgery volume (of how many graft transplantation will be appropriate for reaching desired results), surgery date and arrival details are defined.
You take air ticket to Tbilisi and arrive in Georgia (See “Flight Schedule” service).
Our representatives meet you in airport and accompany you to the hotel (See “transportation” service).
Clinic provides 3 days hotel accommodation, which is absolutely enough time for the treatment.
On the same day of patient’s arrival, he/she is having a face-to-face consultation with doctor. During consultation, they decide each important detail of surgery: precise scale of surgery and the hairline design. In case of need some appropriate analyses are performed. On a second day - patient comes to clinic for hair transplantation procedure. On a third day – patient is passing a postoperative consultation with doctor and after this he/she is potential for departure. Fourth day stay – depends on patients desire. In case patient has a wish to enjoy with loveliest historical and cultural sightseeing’s, than he/she can spent one memorable day in Georgia.
If patient is limited in time, then hair transplantation procedure is possible to be performed on the same day of patient’s arrival. In such situation, patient has opportunity to depart on second day.
During the time patient is in a hotel, is under continual supervision of a doctor. Foreseeing patients wish, clinic organizes a tour.
The photo report on a hair transplant using FUE method applied to the patient from USA, Ben Yegezu.
Ben arrived from San-Francisco to “TALIZI” for hair transplant procedure.

Our representative, Salome Vadachkoria meets him at the international airport of Tbilisi.

Clinic’s mini-bus is waiting for Ben. They will drive him to the hotel. Coming day is a surgery day for Ben.

Ben Yegezu is 35 years old, Afro-American. He has Va class male pattern baldness by Norwood’s classification. Keloid scar formation is typical for Africans that is why Follicular unit extraction – FUE method was chosen for Ben’s hair transplant. FUE excepts the risk of scar formation in the donor area.

Ben’s hair density is not too high.

Dr. Akaki Tsilosani examines a donor zone of the patient using computational scanner, Folliscope (Phototrichogram system) for hair and scalp checking. According to the photo it’s clear that Ben’s density is poor, 53 follicular units in 1cm2 (21 FUs in 40mm2). This index is low even for the Afro-American’s. So, scale of Ben’s hair transplant surgery is decided to be 2000 FUs.

Surgeon prepares the special tool for getting FUs by method - FUE. Talizi uses titanium covered punches with small diameter 0,75mm (Ellis Instruments) that reduces donor zone trauma, but in turn allows extracting FUs with the minimum transsection. These thin punches are placed in special rotating machine.

Doctor Tsilosani starts extracting follicular units.

Surgeon liberates FUs from surrounding tissue with the rotating punch. This detail helps surgeon to reduce FUs trauma and harvest FUs with minimal transsection.

Assistants extract FUs with jewel forceps and then place them on special containers, which are saturated with salin solution .

Follicular Unit Extraction – FUE is quite long lasting procedure. Accordingly, doctors and assistants are changing each other. Now Dr.Eka Yandiashvili changed Dr.Akaki Tsilosani. Assistant was also changed. Rotation of personnel’s who take part in surgery process gives us ability to perform mega sessions without personnel’s tiredness. All this positively mirrors on work quality.

During surgery patient has several breaks. After putting a bandage on the donor area, Ben goes to the kitchen.

After brief break, during which Ben has a breakfast, he returns back to the surgery room.

Assistants take off bandage from Ben’s head and continue follicular unit extraction process.

Each harvested FU is checked under stereomicroscopes. Only FUs without transsection are counted and transplanted.

This is the way selected FUs look like. All containers are put in the Petri dishes filled with a chilled saline solution, and are stored in the refrigerator at temperature of 4 C°. It allows preventing the processes of warming and dehydration of FUs. Also promotes high index of its survivability.

Follicular unit extraction process is finished. Dr. Akaki shows to Ben the process of his FUs preparation and way they are counted.

Now patient sits on a special armchair where Dr.Akaki begins the process of making recipient sites.

Special automatic system, which was created under Dr.Tsilosani’s guidance, automatically counts recipient sites in a process of their creation.

Final stage of hair transplantation procedure is – graft placement.

Experienced surgical assistants carefully take grafts from container with special jeweler’s forceps and with masterly movement place them into the recipient sites.

This is the way Ben’s recipient area looks like after 2000 FUs implantation.

And donor area - after 2000 FU extraction.

Commemorative photo of Ben and his Surgeon – Akaki Tsilosani.

On a second day “TALIZI” organized a tour for Ben in Mtsketa, old capital of Georgia. He also visited Jvari Monastery (“cross monastery”), dated in 4th century A.D.

Now, it’s time for Ben’s departure.

Our assistants- Aleksandre Avdoian’s and Ben Yegezu’s leave – taking in Tbilisi’s international airport.
