At the ISHRS 18th Annual Scientific Meeting, Boston, 2010
Akaki Tsilosani presenting ISHRS is the most authoritative organization of Hair Restoration Surgery in the world. Boston meeting was distinguished with the record number of delegates. After receiving new members, during it’s 20 year lasting history number of ISHRS members firstly surpassed 1000. During 4 days up to 150 reports about actual issues of hair transplantation were represented. This is the best mean of sharing experiences between the numerous schools of hair restoration surgery, situated in different parts of the world. Privately for our delegation, report of the eminent representative of Brazil hair transplantation school – Macelo Pitchon about the transplantation of long hair and it’s Personal Grow Index – PGI - was a real discovery.
Salome Vadachkoria presenting Delegation of Talizi was presented on congress with the reports of Akaki Tsilosani and Salome Vadachkoria. These reports were: “Hair transplantation and their survival in cicatrices of the various etiology” and “Surgery Duration and Efficiency”. Especially remarkable was our surgical assistant’s, Salome Vadachkoria’s work on congress. Abovementioned presentation about surgery duration and efficiency, which considered surgery duration minimization methods for Giga sessions (reducing time for 5000 graft transplantation from 10 to 5 hours), deserved big interest and response. Also remarkable was her work at Surgical assistant’s workshop, where she together with world’s leading assistants demonstrated graft preparation techniques as for beginner students, but also for other experienced technicians for reasons of skills and experience exchange.
Salome Vadachkoria demonstrating graft preparation at ISHRS Hands-On Cadaver Tissue workshop Generally, it must be denoted, that on ISHRS congresses, there is always a big interest against the representatives of TALIZI. Today, our clinic is popular in the world with the big experience of performing Giga Sessions. Mostly significant was Robert Haber’s (famous American hair transplant surgeon) question: “I believe that you are able to perform 5000 graft transplantation in 6 hours, but I don’t know how?” Regarding this cue, he got a simple answer. Doctor Akaki Tsilosani invited him to Georgia to see it with his eyes.
Salome Vadachkoria and Workshop manager Judy Inguito ISHRS scientific congress is a place of meeting people working in one general sphere of medicine, old friends and people very much loved in their profession. Though such meetings are always accompanied with new acquantances and friendship. In Boston Dr. Akaki Tsilosani had first-hand acquaintance with Dr. Vasili Buianov, who is the cheaf surgeon of Russia’s leading hair transplant clinic ”RTH”. Despite the fact that these two clinics have been opened approximately the same time, to the end of 90s, Dr.Akaki Tsilosani and Dr. Vasili Buianov had never met before. Though, they without seeing knew lot about each other. Their acquaintance happened on Vasil Buianov’s initiative. He was interested in TALIZI-s experience in case of high density transplantation (50-70 grafts in 1 cm2) without decreasing of it’s survivability, which is still unachievable for Russian colleagues. They also discussed perspective of FUE in Georgia and Russia. They both expressed a big respect against each other and also regret against the political tension between Georgia and Russia.
Leading Surgeon of RTH (Russia) Vasili Buianov and Akaki Tsilosani Akaki Tsilosani emphasized the merit of RTH in popularization of hair transplantation among the whole teritory of the post Soviet Union and thanked the leading surgeon of RTH. Mostly pleasant fact for the staf of TALIZI, was the meeting with old friends: Arthur Movsesyan, Bassam Gibaii, Vardis Kordera, Sanjiv Vasa, Damkerng Pathomvanich, Arthur Tykocinski, Dow Stough and others. Akaki Tsilosani somehow managed to tell Dow Stough:” 10 years ago, we were studding hair transplantation from your textbook” Hair replacement- surgical and medical”.
